Today I'm pondering words. Some words are just perfect for what they mean--like phlem. There's nothing sexy about snot and the word phlem just is right on the money. But today I'm thinking more about how words sound; cool words that roll off your tongue in interesting ways. Here's a few I came up with--let me know your personal favorite words:
Calamitous. As in, "don't touch that! The results could be calamitous!!!" This word screams for exclamation points, don't you think? I'm not sure its a real word, but it is on a Red Hot Chili Peppers song off Californication-I can't remember which song at the moment.
Mouth. Much sexier than lips. "I want to taste your mouth." I think I need a moment...
Sorrow. Deep, deep sadness. Sorrow just sounds like tears dripping.
Ephieny. Not much to say about this one, but what a cool word to use in a sentence. In that vein...
Ubiquitous. Another 10 dollar word. Most people don't know what it means so you can use it wrong and unless they want to look stupid, they'll just nod wisely. I love that about people!
Splat. Simple, to the point. Splat just about covers everything dropped from the roof, from a catalope to the neighbor's ankle biter (kids, don't try this at home)
Words are funny. Chew on these and see how they taste. Flavor your sentences with spicy adverbs for today and see if you are a more interesting person. I bet you will be. And don't be fooled by French words; they all sound exotic but they still talk about phlem.
